BURTON Albion Community Trust is aiming to celebrate Volunteers’ Week by reaching the landmark of an incredible 100,000 doses given out at the Pirelli Stadium Vaccination Centre.
Now entirely operated by BACT staff alongside more than 80 volunteers who have worked tirelessly throughout the programme, this week the centre hopes to reach what will be a significant milestone in the fight against Covid.
Matt Hancock, Head of Community, said: “If we stay on track, we will have reached 100,000 vaccinations some time on Saturday,
“That’s a remarkable achievement and would not have been possible without the generosity of the football club in donating the facility and the co-ordinated effort by BACT working with the NHS professionals to make this all happen so quickly and efficiently.
“Since April, we have taken over the complete running of the centre to free NHS staff up and that would not have been possible without the efforts of our volunteers.
“They have been amazing and the calm, efficient way they have gone about their massively important roles whether that’s car park stewarding, looking after people on arrival or making cups of tea has been instrumental in making people feel comfortable and safe at the Pirelli Stadium.
“It’s therefore fitting that we can celebrate Volunteers’ Week by reaching the 100,000 doses mark which is testament to everyone who has given up their time and dedicated themselves to this fantastic response to the pandemic.
“Everyone of them has played a vital role in helping the people of East Staffordshire return to something like our normal lives.”
