FIRST Team players Jevan Anderson and Ben Hart, alongside club Hall of Famer Aaron Webster, have attended the launch day of a local social and support group branch.
Friends 2 Friends (F2F) are a charity that support adults with learning disabilities and other vulnerable adults, having run in Lichfield for 7 years. The charity is member led and F2F are passionate about helping members socialise and learn skills needed to be part of the local community.
After the success in Lichfield, the members decided the time was right to expand into Burton and the new group began 3 weeks ago.
The official launch, which was also attended by our very own Billy Brewer, was attended by over 50 people from across Burton and Lichfield who are all keen to see the Burton branch be as successful as F2F has been in Lichfield.
Following the event, Tamsin Croxall and Shaun Waters, who will help with the day-to-day running of the Burton group, said: “We’re delighted with how the launch went and to have representatives from Burton Albion, as well local Boxing icon Neville Brown here to cut the ribbon, was something that we will stay in the minds of ourselves and our members for a very long time.”
Aaron Webster, who now visits regular sessions out in the local community, said: “It was a really well-run event and we’re delighted that we could support it.
“I obviously know myself how important it is for the current first team players to be involved in appearances like this in and around the local Burton area are and it was clear to see the joy on people’s faces that having the likes of Ben and Jevan here today can bring.”
The sessions will run every Tuesday at the Burton Caribbean Association (Uxbridge Street) from 11am – 1pm.
