THROUGHOUT December Billy Brewer has been touring primary schools in East Staffordshire to share some festive cheer and to support BACT staff to in helping local school children to engage in reading.

Nursery, reception and year one children across East Staffordshire have had visits from Billy Brewer and the School Sport team from BACT who have been reading stories and as part of the reading tour.

Connor Richins, School Sport Coordinator, said: “It was brilliant to be able to visit all the schools with Billy and see the smiling, happy expressions on the children’s faces.  We have had some great feedback from schools saying how much the children had enjoyed it. It was also a really rewarding experience for BACT staff to see the children’s enjoyment.”

Sheryl Turner, teacher at Victoria School, said: “The children really enjoyed listening to the stories being read and meeting Billy.

“All of the children were focused and joining in when they were encouraged to. As you can see from the expressions on the children’s faces, they had a lovely, fun time.”

Here are some quotes from some of the children:

“It was fun and I love Billy.”

“I liked the Sproutzilla story the most.”

“I like it when they showed Sproutzilla how to be kind.”

“Mincespies was funny.”

“Connor made us laugh when he read the stories.”

“Billy gave us all a High 5.”

We would like to wish all children and staff from our partner primary schools a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in 2022!
