2020 is a very special year for BACT as it sees us celebrate 10 years of making a difference to our local community through harnessing the brand of Burton Albion FC and the power of sport.
BACT, as a charity, now delivers more than 48 different projects in the local area ranging from Parent & Child programmes for two-year olds right the way through to our Active Ageing programmes which include participants who are more than 100 years old.
Back in 2010 I don’t think anyone could have imagined the growth and scale of the activities now delivered to more than 7,500 people each week.
To celebrate BACT’s special birthday there will be a series of events throughout 2020 including a Gala Dinner and the use of a special 10-year anniversary logo.
Matt Hancock, Head of Community, says: “We are very excited about the coming year and really celebrating our 10th anniversary as a charity. We are extremely proud of the projects and programmes we deliver but also the staff and volunteers that allow us to make a difference in the community. We have some fantastic people, and this has been the main reason for our success as we have continued to employ and develop some amazing talents.
“This coupled with the sustained period of success the club has had on the pitch has really enabled us to inspire, engage and educate so many members of the local community. Burton Albion FC has had unbelievable success over the last 10 years as well and I am under no illusions that this is something that we have been able to use to propel ourselves forward. The club’s support has been amazing.”
BACT hopes to make 2020 its biggest and best yet as we come to the end of our first Inspiring our Communities strategy and the start of a new strategy that will be putting the community at the heart of it.
Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson said: “When people ask me what I’m most proud about at the football club, it’s not winning leagues that comes first to mind but what getting into the EFL and success on the pitch has enabled us to do off it.
“Community has always been at the heart of what this football club is all about and the brilliant strides made by our community trust has had a real and lasting impact on the people who live and work in the Burton area.
“It has been an amazing decade and what is exciting is what the trust will now go on to achieve in the next ten years.”
